Martha C. Gooding Foundation For Compassionate Nursing
The Foundation is pleased to be funding scholarships for nursing students committed to compassionate patient-care for the academic year beginning in the fall of 2013. In each of it's first two years, the Foundation has funded five scholarships.
University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing--
A single $2,500. scholarship will be awarded to a nursing student at UT Austin. The Foundation will select the recipient from persons submitting a completed application by June 3, 2013. UT assisted with preparing the application form and has notified their nursing students of the availability of the scholarship. A pdf of the application form is attached below.
Austin Community College--
Two ACC nursing students will receive $1,500. scholarships funded by the Foundation. These awards are being handled by ACC through its normal financial aid process. Using in part criteria supplied by the Foundation, ACC will select and award these scholarships to two recipients.

UT Presidential Scholarship Endowment
The Foundation has entered into an endowment agreement with the University of Texas at Austin to help fund
a permanent Presidential Scholarship in Nursing for a senior-level undergraduate nursing student.
This minimum $2,500 annual scholarship is intended to "honor the beliefs exemplified in the 39- year critical care nursing practice of Martha C. Gooding, who believed in and promoted the importance of patient-centered
compassionate nursing care."
Julie Byers, Foundation Secretary, presented a $10,000 check to UT on August 22, 2013, to begin funding the endowment. A copy of the UT endowment agreement can be seen at this link.
